This diptych is the most personal thing I have ever posted on DA. This for me, tells a story of a lifetime which was passed on to me by my Grandmother. A strong and loving woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
She gave me this locket on my 18th birthday. Her Grandfather had given the locket to her on her 18th birhtday. She was young and very much in love with my Grandfather, whose picture rests in the locket beside hers.
She died on September 13th, 2009 and my Grandfather passed away in March of 2006. I have treasured this locket for many years, and now I wish to share it with anyone who wishes to see it and read its story. The story of a lifetime spent together, a lifetime of hardship, of trust, of devotion, of dancing and singing. A life shared as completely as two people can.
When I finish the story I will post it, for now enjoy this image.

What a lovely thing. There is a joy in the passing down of treasured items. I have a ring from my grandmother, given to me at 21. Something her father had made for her mother. While it is not something that I would ever wear, the sentiment, story, and reason behind the rings existence is something money will never be able to buy.
