Artist's Comments

I love investigating tiny blooms on garden plants that weren't necessarily planted for the beauty of the flower.. Herbs, spices, vegetables.. etc.

This was amidst the plenitful mustard lettuce that my mom had planted in her garden. They were so cute! I couldn't pass them by.

Thank you for looking! :blowkiss:

I realy like your flower comporitions but i think your lens or something is letting you down, there doesnt seem to be enough sharpness anywhere.

Thanks! Nice to hear.

About the sharpness, it does happen a lot, though I can't help but to feel that most of the time it is operator error! I am constantly disapointed by the focus.

I believe when I was shooting these I was still using auto focus, now I only use manual. Maybe the af on this camera is flawed? It is hard for me to tell.

Hopefully I will have better luck with the D90. :)

Getting focus right has always been my biggest problem. My first dslr actually had a focus problem itself that i didnt figure out for a very long time and then i sold it!
And i have also figured out that using wide open apertures makes getting the focus right even harder again.

Yeah, it has been one of my biggest problems as well. When I first took a photography class it was film, and still I am more comfortable using traditional methods rather than digital. I landed on digital mostly due to my discomfort around chemicals.

I wish I could take some dslr courses! Maybe then I could better understand my issues around focus :)
:iconcolindoust:
I found out the 10d's had a common focus problem in that the focus point was actually behind what was indicated through the viewfinder.
And for me manually focussing through a dslr viewfinder is almost impossible because of the size of it.
But somehow i dont have as many issues with it as i used to.

I am always so interested to hear about other photographer's focus preferences! I will have to (really) experiment with whichever camera I choose next. I tend to favor Nikon, but this time I am not going to be so quick to dismiss Canon. A little off topic, but for me choosing a camera is similar to picking out a prosthetic limb that I know I have to use for years.

:)
:iconcolindoust:
Oh my i hope you never have to actually pick out a prosthetic limb!

Julia, me encantan los tonos en esta fotografía. El verde y el amarillo combinan excelentemente. Por otra parte, adoro la flor, linda.
